The ABF1 team has been competing in the Dutch KNVB competitive league since 2006. In recent seasons, including the current one, we play in the KNVB Zaterdag reserve 7e klasse league. The standard of competition is relatively high, and what is lacking in ability in all the teams is more than compensated by determination and commitment. Most of the teams we play against have a much lower average age than the ABF1 squad (42), so a relatively high level of fitness is a requirement. A modicum of skill and understanding of the game being a pre requisite!!
Prior to enrollment we would ask potential new recruits to participate in a few mid week/Saturday training games. If you are interested in participating please contact the current team manager, Graeme Laws at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The season starts in late August and runs through to May. We play most Saturdays (there are normally 12 teams in the league, equating to 11 home and 11 away games). Home games usually kick off @ 14:30, away games vary but it’s normally early to mid afternoon (although there can also be a few morning kickoffs). Normally, the furthest we have to travel is max 30 minutes from Den Haag/Wassenaar.
We endeavour to field a squad of 14 players per game, more than this and making substitutions becomes an issue. If we have more than 14 available I ask for volunteers to step down. Everyone in the squad is guaranteed 45 minutes play as a minimum. And we collect a match fee of €10 per game you play to cover ref costs, other incidental expenses and an end of season party.
Players that join after the season has started or players that only participate in training sessions (but not in the games) might be entitled to a discount. Please refer to our terms and reference page to check if you are entitled to a discount.
