ABF Spring Baseball

ABF Baseball is Once Again in Full Swing

The season will begin on March 20. Registration is open now - click here to go straight to the registration page.

ABF baseball will be composed of two different programs:
  • INSTRUCTIONAL T BALL. (ABF Field only)
  • DUTCH LEAGUE BASEBALL. (ABF Field and traveling)

INSTRUCTIONAL T BALL:

The ABF will offer a recreational baseball program for the younger players who want to learn the fundamentals of baseball but are not interested in the commitment of a traveling team. Practice and scrimmages will be scheduled on Saturday morning at a fixed time at the ABF facility. This a great way to learn the game of baseball before committing to the schedule of the traveling teams. (This is a simple game: you throw the ball, you catch the ball, and you hit the ball…)

Instructional Division. Ages 4 to 7 years. This is a recreational team which focuses on teaching the fundamentals of baseball in the English language format of the ABF. Players will practice for 45 minutes and then play a game for 45 minutes. We will practice indoors until after the Easter break when we will go outdoors.

The registration fee will include a cap and a tee shirt, either youth Medium or Large. No additional uniform is required for the recreational league play.

COACHES NEEDED: On the registration page please indicate whether you can help out by coaching a team. If we do not get enough volunteer coaches and assistant coaches we will be forced to limit the number of places available.

DUTCH LEAGUE BASEBALL

The ABF sponsors several teams which compete in the Dutch baseball league here in Holland. League play requires a higher level of commitment by the player and the parents to the team for practice and play than recreational league. Practice is an integral part of the team experience. Play in the higher levels of the Dutch league requires higher fees to cover league registration, officiating fees and training expenses.

SEASON: The season will begin in early April and continue to the middle of June when we break for the summer. League play begins again in late August until the end of September.

The ABF sponsors teams at the following levels:

  • T Ball Division (Braves and Indians): Ages 6 to 8 years.
There are two instructional teams which practice and play locally in a T Ball format. Travel for the team is limited within a 20 kilometer radius of ABF.
Practice and games are typically on Saturday mornings and scheduled for a 09:00 start.
Typically 12 games (6 home and 6 away) in a complete season (spring and fall).
  • Minor League Division (Cubs and Rangers): Ages 9 to 10 years.
These are traveling teams which practice and play locally in a modified kid pitch (or machine pitch) format. Travel for the team is typically within a 30 kilometer radius of ABF. The teams practice on Wednesday afternoons after school and play most games on Saturday mornings.
Home games are scheduled for an 11:00 am start.
Typically there are 16 games (8 home and 8 away) in a complete season (spring and fall).
  • Major League Division (Astros): Ages 11 to 12 years.
This is a traveling team which plays locally in a Little League style kid pitch format. Travel for the team is typically within a 50 kilometer radius of ABF. The team practices on Wednesday (16:30 to 18:00) and Sunday afternoons and plays most games on Saturday early afternoon. Home games are scheduled for a 13:00 first pitch.
Typically there are 20 games in a complete season (spring and fall).
  • Senior League Boys Division (Baseball). Ages 13 to 16 years. This is a “Junior Varsity” traveling team which will play locally in a six inning game (90 minute) format on a larger field. • Senior League Girls Division (Softball). Ages 13 to 16 years. This is a “Junior Varsity” traveling team which will play locally in a girls fast pitch softball style games. Games are typically six innings or 90 minutes in length. Travel for the team is typically within a 50 kilometer radius of ABF. The team practices on Wednesday (16:30 to 18:00) and Sunday afternoons and plays most games on Saturday afternoon.
Home games are scheduled for a 15:00 first pitch.
Typically there are 18 to 20 games in a complete season (spring and fall).

Dutch League Uniforms:
All Players competing on the ABF sponsored Dutch League teams are required to have a complete uniform. To minimize the expense of the League Play the ABF teams have not changed uniforms for several years.

ABF Baseball Jersey. If you are a returning player and you only require a larger jersey to accommodate that latest growth spurt then you may need a larger jersey.

Please note the Jerseys are very durable and hold up for many seasons. You may also be able to find a used jersey on ASH Buy/Sell. Just check to be sure the jersey is in reasonable condition.
